Manly P. Hall on Law

"The Greek law-giver, Solon, declared that in the ideal State laws are few and simple, because they have been derived from certainties. In the corrupt State, laws are many and confused, because they have been derived from uncertainties... Where there are many laws there is much lawlessness, and men come to despise and ridicule the restraints that are imposed on freedom of action. Corrupt laws, resulting from efforts to amend inadequate legislation by further inadequate legislation, reveal a general ignorance of right and wrong. Where such ignorance exists the ideal function of democracy is impossible, and liberty degenerates into license."

- Brother Manly Palmer Hall The Secret Destiny of America (1944)

Don't mind me, I just stopped by because it smelled like somebody was making sausages.

    Carry on, carry on.

  2. As always, Manly Hall is the bringer of reason to the masses. Well, Solon deserves some credit as well. Now I don't feel so bad for having read and re-read 'The Secret Teachings of All Ages', so much wisdom in one book. Thanks for the great blog and please keep on with the good work.
